Who We Are

The Center for Cardiac Arrest Survival (CCAS) was founded in 2019 with the goal of increasing out-of-hospital cardiac arrest survival through community education, technology, and research. We empower communities across Pittsburgh by providing free training in lifesaving skills including CPR, AED use, Narcan administration, and hemorrhage control, ensuring more people are prepared to act in an emergency.

CCAS also works to strengthen the chain of survival by connecting trained community members to nearby cardiac arrest events through the PulsePoint app, helping get lifesaving care to patients faster. In addition to community training and response initiatives, we support and conduct research focused on CPR and out-of-hospital cardiac arrest to better understand gaps in care and improve survival outcomes across our region.
